His future projects include a new version of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hitfix.com\/news\/emma-watson-guillermo-del-toros-beauty-and-the-beast-to-shoot-next-summer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Beauty and the Beast<\/a>, a new version of Frankenstein (referencing <a href=\"http:\/\/goldenagecomicbookstories.blogspot.ca\/2010\/09\/berni-wrightson-frankenstein-portfolios.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bernie Wrightson<\/a>) and he is (tentatively)\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/new\/Guillermo-Del-Toro-Quitting-Mountains-Madness-Just-Yet-31971.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">working on<\/a> a film adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft&#8217;s horror \u00a0classic, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hplovecraft.com\/writings\/texts\/fiction\/mm.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">At the Mountains of Madness<\/a>. You can see it&#8217;s been rained on; I should really take better care of it. It contains visual ideas, character notes and plot details for Pan&#8217;s Labyrinth; everything from historical background about 1930s Spain, to the design of an insect, to the chemical meanings of the faces of the moon, to the way I want to destroy the hand of a thug. Sketching a film can sometimes be more fun than actually making one, particularly with all the economic problems you have to deal with. Maybe one day I&#8217;d like to have my own gallery, paint full time and express my ideas that way.<br \/>\n&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/film\/2006\/nov\/17\/2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Guardian UK<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Famously, del Toro once<a href=\"http:\/\/articles.latimes.com\/2006\/nov\/05\/entertainment\/ca-pan5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> lost his sketchbook<\/a> for Pan&#8217;s Labyrinth (before going into production) by forgetting it in the back seat of a London cab. The cabbie did some detective work and returned it to del Toro. Lucky us, as del Toro&#8217;s \u00a0sketchbooks have now been collected by Harper &amp; Collins, published as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0062082841\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=0062082841&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=grenotgreblo-20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Guillermo del Toro&#8217;s Cabinet of Curiosities<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Guillermo del Toro is the director of a pile of great films, including Hellboy and Pan&#8217;s Labyrinth.
